So my Grandma Joyce gave me this coat. "Here. I'm sure you can do something with it," she said.
What to do? What to do? I knew I wanted the wool coat. It is a wonderful shade of deep grey/almost black that would go well with Sunday dress or jeans. The problem was the fit. It was a little boxy for my taste.
The first thing I did was chop off the bottom 6-7 inches; putting the length mid-thigh. Then, out of the leftover material, I made a gathering band for the back. The last thing I did was take the back seam in three inches. (As I type all that into three little sentences, I wonder, why does it take so long to do and so few words to explain?)
Here is the final product.
